Community Foundation of Collier

The
Community Foundation was incorporated in 1985 by local
visionaries who believed that a community foundation in
Naples, like foundations in other cities across the
country, could help charitable-minded people create
legacies for the immediate and future needs of the area.
After 21
years, with generous community support, the Foundation’s
assets have grown to over 50 million dollars. The
Foundation currently manages more than 380 funds
established by charitable individuals and organizations
and makes grants from the investment earnings on these
funds to address the community’s needs and issues.

The
Naples Winter Wine Festival began as mere conversation
among friends, who in this case, who were highly
successful, aficionados of good food and great wine, and
who wanted to share their interests and good fortune
with others. The group was even more intent on creating
a charitable foundation that would make a significant
impact on those less fortunate. Naples Children and
Education Foundation was founded to direct festival
proceeds to underprivileged and at-risk children in
their community. Given the large number of families in
nearby rural communities living below the poverty level,
the decision to support area children’s charities was
unanimous. NCEF is committed to supporting charitable
programs that improve the physical, emotional and
educational lives of underprivileged and at-risk
children in Collier County. Since its inception in 2001,
the Naples Winter Wine Festival has raised over $55
million for children in need, with a record $16.4
million raised under the auction tent in 2006.
